Bandhavgarh National Park.

Bandhavgarh National Park, aptly named “Land of the Tiger,” was once a hunting reserve for the region’s Maharajas. Today, it’s preserved for a different kind of shooting – with cameras. Join us for a tiger safari in India at Bandhavgarh. This relatively isolated park, with limited migration routes for male tigers, combined with suitable habitat and ample prey, supports a high tiger density—around 60 wild tigers. Bandhavgarh is often considered one of the best places in the world to see tigers in their natural habitat.

The landscape of Bandhavgarh is characterized by dominant Sal and Bamboo forests, creating a picturesque backdrop for wildlife encounters. However, the true beauty of the park is perhaps best exemplified in the Tala Zone. Here, expansive grasslands stretch out, almost entirely encircled by imposing hills. These hills are adorned with ancient forts and watchtowers, remnants of a rich history dating back to the 10th century, adding a touch of historical mystique to the natural splendor. Adding to the unique charm of Tala Zone is the renowned 60-foot statue of the sleeping Lord Vishnu, a serene and tranquil presence nestled within the heart of the Bandhavgarh forest, offering a moment of peace amidst the excitement of a tiger safari.

Safaris at Bandhavgarh National Park.

Jeep Safari

Bandhavgarh National Park offers two types of tiger jeep safaris. A full-day safari and a half-day safari.

Half Day Jeep Safaris: These safaris can be divided into two types: morning safaris and evening safaris. Depending on when the sun rises, morning safaris commence at approximately 0600 hours and continue for roughly 4.5 to 5 hours. Following the morning safari, the guest returns to the lodge/resort.

You can refresh yourself, have a quick lunch, take a short break, and then return to the jungle for your evening safari. Depending on when the sun sets, the evening safari takes approximately 3 to 3.5 hours. After your evening safari, you return to the lodge for dinner and spend the rest of the evening at your leisure.

Full Day Jeep Safaris: This type of jeep safari involves your vehicle entering the park 15-20 minutes before all other safari vehicles. Your day is spent in the national park, where you also enjoy your lunch in the forest wilderness.

Fifteen minutes after all the jeeps have left the park following the evening safari, you head back out. Safaris of this kind tend to be more successful in the pleasant months of October–November or even late February–March. Documentarians aiming to capture footage of a specific family within the national park and professional photographers tracking a certain species primarily occupy full-day safaris.
